In 1982 young “Dany” was at a concert of the hip hop group Whodini
at the opera house in Frankfurt, Germany. He was pulled up to the stage and
had to rap together with Whodini. From that day on he DJed and composed music
under the name “Whodany”. He started out with tape editing until
a few years later he could finally afford two turntables and a mixer. He was
a house music fan since the mid 80s when disco started to morph into house
music. After he returned from studying film making in London in 1989, he got
his first paid residency at a club called Flash in the Frankfurt/Germany area
along side of Pascal Feos (who is now his client at MTunes). The same year
he directed the music video of “Deskee – Let There Be House”.
Inspired by the Winter Music Conference 1999 he finally bought some music
gear and started producing music. He would incorporate his own remixes and
productions into his sets. He kept different residencies at clubs and cocktailbars
for 15 years until he moved to the US. Unable to bring his 20,000 vinyl collection
he is now mixing with with Ableton Live. He is preparing a new music style
called Chillswing. A mash-up of chill out beats with Frank Sinatra and old
swing classics. But always ready to speed up the BPM and blend into a house
set.
He is a member of Global House, the Grammys
and US representative of MTunes,
the non exclusive worldwide digital music distributor.
